Neonatology is at the crossroads of intensive care and paediatrics and involves the specialist care of newborn and/or premature babies.
For several years, the repatriation or medical transfer of a newborn baby to a specialist unit, invariably using an incubator, has been one of the specialities of EAA members LAR and DRF Luftrettung. Neonatal missions always include a neonatologist as well as a specialist intensive care children’s flight nurse/paramedic trained in APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support).
The missions is executed with state-of-the-art equipment, three incubators are within the permanent equipment from our members LAR and DRF Luftrettung and used on the EAA missions:
- 1 MediPrema N.I.T.E. incubator equipped with a Mobile Stephan R120 ventilator
- 2 Dräger 5400 incubators equipped with a Babylog 2000 ventilator.
These units complement other monitoring equipment and accessories specially adapted for young patients.
