Berlin, 3 November 2016 - European Air Ambulance beat competition from three other finalists to win the ITIJ Air Ambulance Provider of the Year Award in Berlin on 3 November.

EAA award ceremonyThe climax to the International Travel & Health Insurance Conference, the ITIJ awards are presented by International Travel & Health Insurance Journal to “the companies that have made an outstanding contribution to the global travel and health insurance industry over the previous 12 months”.

European Air Ambulance has worked tirelessly over the past 12 months to improve and upgrade its services. EAA was cited by award presenter Larry C. Baker, from sponsors UC San Diego Health, as the first air ambulance to have an infectious disease module, and for having the only certified weight transportation stretchers on the market. Those factors put EAA “at the forefront of the air ambulance industry,” said Baker before handing the award to EAA’s Director of Sales & Marketing, Patrick Schomaker.

Schomaker thanked EAA’s clients and fellow industry players who voted for the award. “We have 165 people back at home who are very happy and proud to have this award tonight. We have been working on this for 28 years,” he said. EAA as a brand was launched 10 years ago at an ITIC conference in Prague in 2006.

As well as the aforementioned innovations, EAA has also spent the last year improving its paediatric service, producing a book to put young patients at ease and inaugurating its state of the art headquarters at Luxembourg airport.Air Ambulance Award from ITIJ
